Our Mission

Military service may end. Service to our Constitution and our communities does not. The Utah Veterans Democratic Caucus exists to defend constitutional principles, elevate veterans’ voices in public policy, and empower veterans to continue serving their communities through civic engagement, advocacy, and legislative leadership.

Our Vision

We envision a Utah where veterans are recognized not only for their military service, but also for their lifelong commitment to civic leadership. We believe that strong communities are built by engaged citizens, that democratic institutions flourish through transparency and accountability, and that every American deserves the opportunity to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Our goal is to help create a future where veterans remain among our state’s most trusted leaders and public servants.

Our Purpose

Military service prepares veterans to lead under pressure, solve difficult problems, and place the mission before themselves. Those qualities remain long after active service ends.

The Utah Veterans Democratic Caucus exists to channel those strengths into civic life by defending the Constitution, advocating for veterans, promoting public accountability, and helping veterans continue serving the communities they call home.

Military service ends. Service to the United States and the American people does not.

Our Priorities

Defend the Constitution

Veterans swear an oath to defend the Constitution, not a political party, elected official, or ideology. That distinction defines who we are. We believe constitutional government, democratic institutions, and the rule of law deserve lifelong defenders. Our commitment to those principles did not end when we left military service. It continues through civic engagement, public accountability, and responsible leadership. This means we:

  • Put the Constitution first.
  • Defend democratic institutions.
  • Promote public accountability.
  • Practice principled patriotism.

Continue the Mission

Military service ends, but Civic service continues. Veterans possess unique experience in leadership, teamwork, and service under difficult circumstances. Those strengths remain valuable long after military careers have ended. We believe every veteran deserves an opportunity to continue serving through civic leadership, community engagement, advocacy, and public service. We want to:

  • Encourage veterans to lead within their communities.
  • Develop future civic leaders.
  • Create opportunities for continued service.
  • Inspire others through leadership by example.

Build Stronger Communities

Veterans strengthen Utah by serving where they live. Healthy communities are built by neighbors who work together, solve problems together, and invest in one another’s success. We believe veteran leadership can strengthen local communities by expanding opportunity, encouraging civic participation, and building trust between citizens and public institutions. Veterans can:

  • Strengthen communities through service.
  • Encourage collaboration over division.
  • Expand opportunity for all Utahns.
  • Leave every community stronger than we found it.
